You can stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the GEOPRO project by subscribing to the project newsletter.

Having begun in 2019, the last phase of the project is now underway with the assembly of systems ready for testing in Iceland currently underway.

The project team have been working to improve the consistency and accuracy of key kinetic and thermodynamic input data as well as the accuracy of the respective equations of state to optimise geothermal reservoir management, power and heat production, and reinjection strategies.

Understanding the properties of geothermal fluids is important for determining the heat-carrying potential for energy transfer over the lifetime of a well, allowing operations to be optimised. While this information will assist with the exploration and utilisation of geothermal wells, it will also support improved design efficiencies

The benefits of the project for the geothermal industry include optimised energy extraction, reduced costs, better designs for geothermal exploitation, and the improved reinjection of waste water and greenhouse gases.

Keep abreast of the latest developments in the project by subscribing to the GEOPRO newsletter, here.
